Debut tape “1701” is a short and sweet ballad in music form. A story about an outlandish teenager trying to find a “home” in all the places but his broken household. Rutto struggles with himself throughout the project and somehow finds a way to not only relieve us but also reassure himself that home is where the heart is. 8 tracks stuffed carefully with varying production, lyrical complexity and execution seems to be all Rutto needs to convey his own personal narrative in ways that we couldn’t help but relate with the young artist.
